01Focus of the release

Anthropic released Claude 4 in May 2025 across Sonnet and Opus tiers, emphasising sustained multi-step task execution, tool use and improved performance on software engineering benchmarks.

The release was accompanied by expanded developer tooling for agentic workflows, where a model executes long sequences of actions with limited supervision.

02Commercial read-through

Agentic workloads consume substantially more tokens per task than conversational use. If adoption holds, that raises revenue per customer — and also raises the compute cost of serving them.
