Anthropic Valuation Scenarios: A Framework, Not a Forecast
Scenario analysis is useful precisely because it makes assumptions explicit. None of the ranges below is a prediction.

01The variables that matter
Four assumptions dominate almost any model of a frontier AI developer: the growth rate of revenue, the gross margin achievable after inference cost, the capital required per model generation, and the multiple public markets would apply to that profile.
Small differences in each compound quickly, which is why credible ranges are wide.
02Three illustrative cases
Constructive case: enterprise adoption broadens beyond coding, inference cost per unit of capability continues to fall faster than price, and Anthropic sustains high growth with improving margins. A software-like multiple becomes defensible.
Base case: growth stays strong but competition compresses pricing, and compute commitments hold margins below mature software levels. Valuation tracks revenue growth with a discount for capital intensity.
Adverse case: capability converges across providers, differentiation erodes toward price, and forward compute commitments become an overhang. Multiples compress materially, regardless of top-line growth.

03Using this responsibly
These are illustrative frameworks for thinking, not valuations, recommendations or forecasts. Anthropic does not publish audited financial statements, so any external model rests on reported figures of uncertain precision.
