01Multi-cloud, multi-silicon
Anthropic uses Amazon's Trainium accelerators, Google's TPUs and Nvidia GPUs across its partners' infrastructure. This spreads dependency on any one supplier and gives negotiating leverage on price.
The trade-off is engineering overhead: training and serving efficiently across different accelerator architectures is non-trivial work.
02Why it matters to investors
Long-dated compute commitments behave like fixed costs. They convert a variable-cost software business into something closer to an infrastructure business, which changes how margins scale and how a public market would value the company.
Any assessment of a future listing should look at committed spend and contract duration, not only at revenue growth.
