01Revenue mix

OpenAI's revenue is materially weighted toward consumer subscriptions alongside its enterprise and API business. Anthropic's is weighted toward enterprise and developer API consumption, with a smaller consumer footprint.

That difference affects volatility, marketing cost and margin profile more than it affects headline growth.

02Distribution and partnerships

OpenAI's deepest commercial relationship has been with Microsoft, though it has diversified compute suppliers. Anthropic has pursued availability across AWS, Google Cloud and Azure simultaneously.

Anthropic's multi-cloud presence widens addressable procurement; OpenAI's consumer brand recognition remains substantially stronger.

03What comparison cannot settle

Neither company publishes audited financials. Benchmark leadership rotates between releases and rarely persists for more than a few months. Any claim that one is definitively 'ahead' should be treated with caution.
